Certified Nursing Aide can be defined as a certified nursing aide, who has completed classroom and clinical training programs as prescribed by the federal and specific state authorities and passed the evaluation competency examination under the supervision of registered nurse. The basic duty and responsibility of CNA is to provide everyday care to patients and residents in hospitals, nursing homes and long term care units.

CNA Training Classes in Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania different high schools, private training schools, nursing homes and technical schools, provide Certified Nursing Assistant training classes. These training classes follow programs, specified by the federal regulations set forth by the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987.

The basic curriculum of nursing aide training classes consist of  communication skills, personal care skills, interpersonal skills, basic nursing skills, resident rights and so on. These classes also prepares the student for the State approved competency exam.

The basic requirement of these CNA training classes in Pennsylvania is 72 hours classroom learning’s, followed by 42 hours of clinical experience. These training programs prepare the students on basic patient care in hospitals, nursing homes, health clinics, home care and other long term health care units. After the completion of the course, the students are offered Nurse Assistant Certificate, which makes them eligible to sit for state approved written and clinical exams. After successfully passing of competency evaluation test, nursing aide is certified and gets the license to work in hospitals, nursing homes and long term health care units as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Pennsylvania even offers enrollment in Certified Nurse Aide training schools for free of cost. There are various ways, how the person can get such facilities to attend free nurse aide classes for free. The students who have zeal to care the patients and are from non-profit organizations, which looks after the individuals from low income groups, are offered free training classes. Even Long Term Care facilities also sponsor such students for free Nurse Assistant Training classes, who are willing to work or take employment in the facility after the successful completion of the CNA training classes. The students can also apply for the scholarships and grants offered by different organizations to cover training costs.
