Nurse Aide Training Programs in Ohio
Nurse Aide Training Programs in Ohio is regulated and governed by the federal and state regulations testing requirements, for all nurse aides, who work in Medicare/Medicaid certified long term care facilities. The Ohio Department of Health’s NATCEP unit is responsible for ensuring the nurse aide certification, meets the necessary requirements of state and federal autorities.
Necessity for Nurse Aide Training Competency (NATCEP) in Ohio:
The competency program has been divided in two parts.
· Pre resident contact component
· Resident care component
The TCEP is composed of a 75-hour curriculum of instruction that is balanced between classroom and clinical skills training. The Pre-resident training is classroom training, which is for the duration of 16 hours and during this period the nursing aide student is to be offering care to residents during this component of the training. The remaining 59 hours of training are allocated between classroom and clinical training and during this period of training, NAs may provide care to residents.
Nursing assistant can provide the care to residents after they have proved their competency to the trainer to perform such care. The guidelines for the trainers have been formulated in delivering consistent, organized and relevant subject matter, which can be used as an evaluation for the competency of nursing aide.
