In United States of America, different states have formulated their own systems for nursing aide training programs but all will have to meet federal requirements. Every state has different agencies that are responsible for ensuring CNA training, courses and examinations.

In North Dakota, Division of Health Facilities has the responsibility to register individuals, who have completed successfully certified nursing assistant or certified nursing aide program. Like every state and as required by the federal requirements, North Dakota also maintains Nurse Aide Registry for the individuals, who have completed successfully completed  CNA Training program and become certified after passing the Certification training aide exam. The responsibility of registering new certified nursing assistants are carried out by Division of Health Facilities. The additional role of checking charges of resident abuse, neglect, or misappropriation in long term care facilities are also carried out by this agency for further prevention or rectification of charges.
