Certified Nursing Aide plays very important role in looking after everyday care and need of the patients. The responsibilities of CNA lies on performing various patients related works, such as preparing beds for patients and changing of bed linen, administering glucose, medication, injection to patients, checking, pulse beats, measuring temperature, assisting in moving and exercises of patients etc. To become a CNA, an individual has to complete the Nurse Aide training program and clear the examination of the same. After successes in exams, they are registered as certified nursing assistant and employed in hospitals, nursing homes and health care units.
According to federal laws, an individual should undergo 75 hours CNA training program but every states follows their own training hour’s schedules but minimum hours as formulated by federal authorities have to be completed by a nurse aide.
In the state of Maine, CNA program demands minimum 150 hours classroom and clinical instructions. The students, who are looking for sponsorship for their free CNA class, will have to get employed first with long term health care units prior to enrolling in a nurse aide program. There is hope for reimbursement of all training expenses including fees, text books etc. by the employer, once the students complete training period successfully and get employments.
Even the state of Maine will cover the cost of nurse aide course expenses, if an individual is employed as a nurse aide within twelve months (one year) of graduating and passing the nurse aide competency examination. The nursing aide course can be completed in three months.
