Any student who has completed CNA Training Program approved by the specific state and pass the CNA Exam are Certified as a Nursing Aide. They get the license to work in hospitals, long term health care units and nursing homes.

The basic duty of certified nursing aide is to work under the supervision of certified nurse and look after the everyday need of the patients, including bed making and changing of linens, administrating glucose, injection, water, medication and so on.

Indiana CNA Training Program Requirements:

Every state have their own state approved CNA training programs but it is mandatory to meet minimum requirements of 75 hours nursing aide training as stipulated by federal authority for nursing aide certification.
In Indiana, a nursing student has to complete 30 hours of classroom and 75 hours of clinical supervised learning. In class room learning, the student is taught infection control, interpersonal skills, restorative care, resident’s rights, emergency care, basic nursing skills and mental health care.

In the supervised, clinical training, students work with actual patients in long-term care facilities in the presence of a registered nurse educator. This allows students to practice those skills learned in the classroom.

At present State of Indiana has made arrangement with Ivy Tech Community College provide examination sites at college and university campuses throughout Indiana. Only students, who have successfully completed state approved CNA training programs are eligible to appear for the CNA examination. After passing out, the student are certified and get the license to work at hospitals, nursing homes and long term health care units.

With increased number of ageing people, Indian offers greater job opportunities for Certified Nursing Assistants.
