If you are aiming to enter medical nursing field,  your first step in this field is entering into an accredited nursing school attend respective state nurse aide training program, which may extend from 75 hours to 150 hours as per state requirement for their training programs

It is also mandatory that these programs must also follow the stipulations as mentioned in OBRA-87, which is passed by the congress for quality and competent nursing care to ailing patients in hospitals, long term care units, nursing homes, adult care centers, home care settings, assisted living facilities, mental health institutions and numerous other health care facilities.

The programs offered by these schools consist of both classroom learning and clinical hands-on trainings. The student is taught about high standard competent nursing care process, which include hand washing, personal care, basic nursing care, washing, feeding and movement of the patient, changing of bed linen, care of old adults, denture, communication and interpersonal skills and so on. The student is not allowed to interact with the patients during classroom instructions but they can mix around with patients for their clinical part of training.

A student can attend campus based, online and free CNA training provided by different nursing schools, Long Term care unit, community colleges and American Red Cross. But, it is also worth knowing that any program attended by you must be accredited and approved by both state and federal agencies.

The completion of trainings through these schools will allow you to sit for state certification exam and listing with respective state Nurse Aide Registry. It also allows you working legally with different health care facilities and earning your living.
