CNA License Requirements

To complete the course of certified nursing assistant you may take one month to six months depending on the course taken. And mandatorily after the course you need to give the state licensing practical and theoretical exam. The states in US have different requirements that you need to fulfil before sitting for the examination.so here is a checklist for you to save you from any unexpected concern-


AGE is the first criteria. You should be 18 years old or above


HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION is another aspect where you should have some proof of knowledge in documents. Some states ask to at least have eight years of high school and should have fundamental knowledge of human body.


COMPETENCY is also to be covered. After finishing the course you should pass a competency course to prove that you have completed the course till the end. That means you should have 40 hours of clinical training supervised by a trained nurse.


OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS of your college curriculum should be sited to the licensing department.


BACK GROUND CHECK is yet another important thing to take care of. To practice as a certified nursing assistant in your state, you need to have a clean background with no criminal records what so ever. You will be asked to submit your fingerprints to the licensing authority. This is done for the security purpose and is duty of every aspirant to cooperate the officials.


WRONG DOING is not entertained in any situation by the records. If you are found with any history of abuse or neglect on the local or state registry or any other related registry, your application may not be accepted by for the licensure. So make sure that you do not have any such history of misconduct.


TESTS need to be taken seriously. You need to pass the test for license manual taken by the licensing authority. You can take this test online from authorised centres. To improve your score you can take up this exam thrice.


ENGLISH PROFICIACY is a must. You should be able to talk and understand the English language. Most of the patients that you will deal with , will be conversing in English language.
