CNA License in Michigan
Any individual, aiming to enter nursing field in the state of Michigan, must obtain CNA License. Certified Nurse Aide license is offered to these nursing candidates, who have completed the Department of Community Health, Bureau of Health Professions and OBRA-87 approved Nurse assistant training program and pass the state CNA licensing exam.
In Michigan, competency evaluation test is offered by Prometric, who has been contracted by the state health agency to develop, regulate and administer CNA licensing test. The successful passing of the certified nurse assistant exam, allows a candidate to get CNA License in Michigan, listing with state Nurse Aide Registry and permission to work legally in any hospital, long term care units and nursing homes.
CNA Licensing Exam
Certified Nurse Aide Licensing test consist of 2 separate parts including, Written Test and Skill Test.
Written Test – A candidate receives around 60-70 multi choice questions for written test and they need to tick mark the correct answer, out of four answers given for every question.
Similarly, for skill demonstration test, a candidate has to demonstrate 5 randomly selected skills out of 25 skills. Skill performance is conducted on a live model/volunteer or a dummy.
The test questions and skills to be performed are based on classroom learning and clinical hands-on training during nurse aide training programs. A candidate has to score 75% & above in both tests to earn CNA License in Michigan and registration with state Nurse Aide Registry.
It is also essential to note that, there are certain requirements that has to be completed before a candidate is allowed to sit for the Prometric offered competency evaluation test and that include:
- Signed Social Security Card
- Testing fees for Prometric
- Photo Identification with signature, such as Driver License, Library Card, School ID, Credit Card.
- Authorization to Test (ATT)
- A second form of identification with signature
- Test administration fees payable to the Regional Test Site.
By completing the above requirements and passing of the Licensing exam will award a candidate CNA License in Michigan.
