CNA license in Connecticut

Do you want to begin your professional career by obtaining CNA license in Connecticut? If it is your wish to enter nursing field in the state of Connecticut, you must attend OBRA-87 and state approved CNA Training programs of the Connecticut State Board of Nursing (CTSBN). The program comprises of classroom instruction and clinical hands-on trainings. The successful completion of Nurse Aide training program allows a student to sit for the Connecticut CNA Licensing Exam and obtain certification.

CT Department of Health has contracted with Prometric to develop, administer and regulate the Connecticut Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation test. If you want further details on exam, you can contact the CTSBN or Prometric testing site, three weeks after sending of the application form. It is also the responsibility of CTDH and CTSBN to review the application of the candidate and inform the testing agency about the eligibility of the student to take the exam.

CNA license exam in Connecticut consists of two separate parts:

  • Written/Oral Exam
  • Clinical Skill Test

Written/Oral Test features multi choice test questions, based on the classroom instruction during CNA training program.

Skill test comprises of 5 randomly selected skill demonstrations, based on hand-on training during nurse aide training program and skills that are essential for nursing care on different types of actual health care centers. The time offered for the skill test is 35 minutes.

The passing of both tests award CNA license in Connecticut and listing with CT Nurse Aide Registry.
